Chapter 99. Memories
Lilly’s POV
“Are you alright, dear?” Alpha Alexander asked gently as we stepped into the packhouse. “You seem tense, as if something’s troubling you besides that horrible she-wolf outside.”
His words made me stiffen. Could he see right through me? Did he notice the storm inside?
How could I possibly tell him his son had almost died earlier? That I had held Lex in my arms, watching the life fade from his eyes?
“You can tell me, you know,” Alex urged, his voice warm but insistent. “I wouldn’t judge—”
My steps slowed and faltered. I finally stopped in a quiet corner near the staircase, away from curious eyes and ears. This burden was too heavy to carry alone. Someone stronger than me needed to know—someone who could protect Lex if I failed.
I watched the flurry of pack members moving through the halls, searching for the right words. My heart pounded with each breath, the memory still raw. I lifted my gaze to meet Alpha Alexander’s.
