The media storm after Nova’s performance lasted three days.

I watched her scroll through headlines each morning, her hand resting on her growing stomach—seventeen weeks now, the bump impossible to hide. Every article dissected her choice. Her pregnancy. Her future.

“They’re camped outside the cabin,” I said, looking out the window at the news vans lining the road. “Six of them now.”

“They want the story.” Nova set down her phone. “Pregnant singer in hiding with the man her husband tried to kill. It’s irresistible.”

“We could leave. Go somewhere they can’t find us.”

“Run away?”

“Strategically relocate.” I sat beside her on the couch. “I have houses in three countries. We could disappear for a while. Let the noise die down. Come back when you’re ready.”
