Chapter 81. A Truce

I thought we were okay. I meant Jack was much better at treating me now, but I was apparently wrong. He was still a jerk! How could I forget he was my enemy? Argh! I wanted to slap him to erase his smirk. But I only pretended I didn’t hear what he said and looked around the street.

He said nothing when he finally parked the car. When I got out of the car, I gasped to see we would head to a steakhouse. It was the best and the most expensive steak restaurant in Moon City! I bit my lower lip. What should I do? What if he left me to pay for the meals?

Before saying I was not hungry, my stomach growled again. I shut my eyes in frustration because I couldn’t afford to pay, even the cheapest steak here. Yes, Jack offered to pay for the dinner, but who knew if he lied?
