Lake wiped his eyes, still smiling through his tears. “Ollie knows about biology. He asked me once, a few months ago, about how babies are made. And I told him the basics—that omegas carry babies, that alphas help make them, that families come in all different shapes. And he asked if I was his omega or his brother, and I—I lied. I told him I was his brother. Because I couldn’t face telling a four-year-old that his brother was actually his father who’d given birth to him at fourteen.”
“But I’m going to tell him now,” Lake said with determination. “When he wakes up. I’m going to sit him down and explain everything. That I’m his biological father, that I love him more than anything, that nothing about our relationship changes even if the terminology does. And I’m going to tell him that his other biological father—the alpha who helped make him—was someone kind. Someone gentle. Someone who treated me like a person even if I don’t remember his name.”
