Lake POV

The blood drained from my face as Ramon’s threat hung in the air between us. The silence was loud enough that I could hear my own heartbeat beating faster than usual.

Take Ollie? He couldn’t be serious about this.

But looking into those dark, calculating eyes, I realized he absolutely was.

“You bastard,” I whispered, my voice shaking with fear and rage as I clenched my fists in anger.

“He’s just a child. He has nothing to do with this.”

“He has everything to do with this,” Ramon replied calmly, as if we were talking about the mere weather instead of discussing my brother’s future.

“Samuel Sanders has two sons. Both are part of his estate, legally speaking. If you refuse to honor the debt, then I’ll take what I’m owed through other means.”

“I won’t let you touch him.” The words came out fiercer than I felt, my omega nature was fueling my need to protect Ollie from someone like him.

“I’ll kill you first.”
