Ramon POV
“We can do all of that,” my mother said.
“Ramon, we love Lake and Ollie. They’re family now. We’ll do whatever it takes to help them feel safe and loved here.”
“Thank you,” I said, and felt some of the tension in my shoulders ease. “That means more than you know.”
“What about you?” Rafael asked. “What do you need for yourself?”
“Honestly? I have no idea,” I said with a tired laugh. “I’m still figuring out how to be a mate and a father while also being myself. It’s a lot of hats to wear.”
“You’re doing a good job,” Rhodes said.
“Ramon, I know today was a disaster, but you handled it. You kept everyone safe, you made decisions, you got Lake and Ollie through it. That’s not nothing.”
“It doesn’t feel like enough,” I admitted.
“It never does,” Rhodes said. “Trust me. I’ve been a father for five years now, and I still feel like I’m constantly failing. But Troy assures me that showing up and trying is what matters most
