Chapter 20. Ending Stage

Kame, the Southern Region

They were vicious; they were cruel. Just as he had been told, they could be.

He had barely drawn the conclusion when ten soldiers stepped through the gate.

Koz drew a sharp breath and turned to Jarold. “Seal the Pinnacle!” He told him before turning to face the soldiers approaching.

Jarold took to his heels and ran off, going to carry out the instruction given. A slath ran after him, matching his speed, but Koz grabbed him by his neck and threw him to the ground in a hard slam. He snapped his neck and killed him immediately.

In the second of taking his eyes off them, another soldier ran to and attacked Jarold, tackling him onto the ground before he could reach for the seal button.

“Jarold!” Koz called to him, hoping to be his source of strength somehow.

Jarold didn’t quickly recover to fight back before the slath ripped out his heart and tossed it to the ground before getting up.
