Chapter 21. Rebellion and Death

Odion, the older elder, rose from his seat and approached the slaths, who stood unmoved in their position.

“Who are you?” Elder Odion asked, only to be met with silence from the soldiers standing still.

“Do not go near them,” Ace warned, but like always, they didn’t listen.

“You have no business being here!” Elder Odion continued sternly as he got to where one stood. “This is the elder’s court, and—” he didn’t get to finish because the slath launched at him. He pulled out his silver dagger, ran it over his neck, and then thrust it into his chest. The elder body dropped, and his blood gushed onto the floor, much to the horror of everyone seated.
