Chapter 91. Cruel Fate

I kept checking the rearview mirror to see if we were being followed. Despite the several cars on the road, there was a black sedan that kept trailing us. It maintained a distance from us, but it wasn’t fooling me.

Gina stopped ventilating and now remained silent throughout the drive. I kept asking if she was alright, and she would repeat the same response, saying she was fine, but we both knew she wasn't.

The recent events had left her shaken and traumatized, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. While I was used to the realities of death, she was experiencing it in a way that was unsettling and overwhelming to her.

I figured we would need food and water, and we had none in the car, so we needed to make a stop. I glanced at the mirror and saw the sedan was getting closer.

“You need to eat,” I said, only to be met with silence. I leaned in and placed a hand on her thighs, but she didn't even respond or make eye contact.

“Gina. Did you hear me?” I pressed
