Charlie POV

“You can’t ask her to do that,” I shout at Destin. “She isn’t the same.”

Destin is pacing in front of the hospital. Wren has been awake for two days, and he has just now shown up. I understand he had things to attend to, but Wren has always been my number one priority. He should put her first, like I have.

“I know this isn’t the ideal situation,” Destin grumbles. “But what would you have me do? Their mother sacrificed herself so we could get to Wren. I owe this to them. I owe it to Onyx.”

“You have lost your fucking mind,” I snarl back. “Wren is already hanging on by a thread. This will push her over the fucking edge.”

Destin shoves me, and I stumble back. “You don’t give her enough credit. She has been through shit, but she is not a monster. She won’t make me choose.”
