“So, where were we?” Emma asked, smiling innocently, breaking the stunned silence in the hall.

Before she had spoken, a pin drop on the floor would have been heard literally. The hall was so still, until she had spoken, and until Claire’s mother shouted at her.

“How dare you… you filthy human…” The woman was still ranting, when suddenly she got dumb. She tried talking, surprised at the turn of events, but she couldn’t even open her mouth.
