Chapter 38. Dead Inside

Emily's POV

The weeks flew by in what seemed to feel like a haze and Berton continued to show remarkable improvement just as the doctor had predicted. Everything was moving just like he had planned and because of that, several other activities were put in place. One of them, which was the most Important one, had already been scheduled. With his recovery, the Pack council had given the go-ahead about him succeeding his father.

The scepticism among them about whether he could become the Alpha was suddenly gone and none of them had anything against him, but he complained to me on one of the nights we lay there in the couch, cuddled like gnats, that there were some members of the council who didn't like him and wanted him gone but I made it clear to him that it wasn't mandatory everyone was going to like him.

The only threat there was to look out for were those that would go as far as displaying their resentment in a violent way. Because of that he had t
