Chapter 14. The Ball

The ball was in full swing when we arrived; Cyrus in full regalia of his majestic elegance and I clad in proper slave clothes and a leash about my neck.

“Remember to keep your head down,” he whispered into my ear as we walked in.

When we entered the hall, everything stopped for Cyrus: the music, dancing, eating, whatever had been going on inside before and then the next minute was filled with a chorus of reverence to Cyrus. I rolled my eyes as I watched this happen.

Cyrus was escorted himself by Adrainna. I could not tell what she looked like because I kept my eyes glued to the ground but I could feel the intense stare of condensation as she looked my way. My game plan this evening was to go by without getting noticed and so I kept my cool.

“She's properly behaved today but I can tell it's a ruse, she's not broken yet,” I heard Adrianna comment as she walked side by side with Theo and I trailing behind them.
