Carissa wiped her tears as she urged the horse to race faster. She could feel it; Demetrius was getting really hurt. She could feel how much he was trying his best to overcome the troops of Xerxes. She knew her troops would be trying their best as well. Memories of her last meeting with Demetrius came back to her where she had told him she didn't regret all of her actions. She knew she was lying to herself. She regretted every horrible thing she had done to him. Her fate was being repeated. She had never trusted her mate in her past lives, which led to her downfall, but she was ready to make a change in this life. She was ready to give up her life for his sake. Jason must have informed Xerxes that the weak point of werewolves was a frozen place. That must have been the reason he lured her mate to the ice lake.
