He got up from his seat and Celeste mirrored his actions, steps following his as he led her deeper into the house. He took her up the stairs, taking her to the first room along the hall. “This is Zillon’s room, he’s been living in it from the moment he became five up until now. He rarely ever stays at his place, but we haven’t been seeing him much lately. At first, we thought it was good…he now had a mate after all, but then we realized that everything wasn’t as it seemed, especially after hearing about your admitting at the hospital.”
Celeste’s heart picked up in her chest, her eyes dropping to the floor. “It wasn’t…it wasn’t hi—”
“It’s inevitable for you to defend him, but we’ll be the one to conclude whether it was his fault or not.” He pushed the door open, gesturing her inside. “Go rest up now, you must be tired.”
