Our family left, leaving Mykel and me on the patio. The night seemed in our favor, and the moon was beautiful and bright.
“Come.” Mykel held my hand.
Tonight was just Mykel and me—I cherished this moment and left the issue behind us for a while. I sat on his lap, and he instantly wrapped his arms around me, his cheek pressed against my back.
“I overstepped, didn’t I?”
