Just then, footsteps approached the door.

Xavier pushed it open and entered.

When Mrs. Ryder saw him, her expression still carried gratitude. "Xavier, you're here."

"Auntie," Xavier greeted politely with a smile. "How is Celia?"

Mrs. Ryder glanced at her daughter lying on the bed, her face full of worry. "She still hasn't woken up."

Xavier glanced at Celia briefly, his eyes lingering on her pale face for a fraction of a second before he turned back to Mrs. Ryder. 

“Don’t worry,” he said evenly. “I already spoke with the attending physician. Celia isn’t in any life-threatening danger.”

Mrs. Ryder’s tense shoulders loosened just a little, though her fingers still clutched the edge of the hospital bed.
