Chapter 25
Josephine’s POV
I had never thought I would come to hate the idea of being in Ruswells College, a school I had dreamt of attending for as long as I could remember, but gradually, I realized that I was losing my shine.
With the whole scandal and everything, it was difficult to keep a low profile in school. It was hard to walk through the hallway or an aisle in class without hearing snatches of whisperings where my name was being mentioned.
Elle was more than supportive as a friend, and so were the other friends I’d made at Ruswells College: Carmen, Opal, and maybe Mason, who was always around to throw in a dry joke whenever I seemed too gloomy at lunch.
Brooklyn had made it pretty clear that even though she and Tave had nothing to do anymore, she could never pick my side over Tave’s, and I understood that perfectly. It wasn’t in my place to ask her to be my friend, nor was it okay for me to just try to waltz my way back into Rayne’s life.
