Chapter 24
Josephine’s POV
The cold wind whistled past my ears, sending my hair flying sideways in the direction it went. I pulled it back in place to prevent it from obscuring my vision. I was waiting to see Alex at the exact spot on the field where we’d met about a month and a couple of weeks earlier.
He was taking too long, and I wasn’t sure whether it had anything to do with the fact that he was scared of this meeting or that he’d pulled a prank on me. An expensive prank.
I was hit by a wave of nostalgia as I went over our first meeting in my mind. Who could have thought that such a perfect meeting could have resulted in something so absurd?
“Jo,” a deep baritone voice called from behind. I recognized the voice at once.
I twirled around and met directly with Alex’s face. He was wearing a thick cardigan over a pair of black jean pants. His hands were stuck in his pockets. He stopped just a few meters away from me and offered a thin smile.
“Alex,” I called
