Chapter 79. Awkward Situation
Damon slammed the door behind him and leaned back against it, chest rising and falling too quickly, his pulse hammering through his veins.
“What did I just do…?” he whispered to the empty room.
He dragged a shaking hand through his hair and started pacing.
Back and forth. Back and forth.
“She’s my sister… No—she’s not—but still… What am I thinking?”
His voice cracked as he muttered to himself.
Every time he blinked, he could still feel her lips under his.
Her warmth trapped beneath him.
Her scent washing over him like wildfire.
He stopped and grabbed the edge of his desk, knuckles whitening.
“I can’t let this happen. I can’t face her. Not like this.”
But how was he supposed to conceal feelings that had been growing—quietly, secretly, painfully—since childhood?
He let out a devastated exhale and collapsed onto his bed, burying his face in his palms.
I’ve ruined everything…
Just then—Knock. Knock.
