Chapter 89. What Is Steffan Hiding?

“Are you comfortable?” Steffan asked as the car began to move. 

He had cushioned the car seat with pillows and brought a blanket. It was the blanket Delbert had gifted her, her comfort blanket that smelled like Jasmine. Her mother’s scent. 

Racheal wrapped the blanket tighter around her body as she settled further into the seat.

“Yes, thank you.” She said simply, her response polite enough, but cold. 

She knew he was trying to fix whatever it was that had broken between them, but she was not sure she was interested. 

Like he had said himself, what was the point of all this? 

He could not protect her, his attitude was ever changing, the only reason she was still being polite to him was both their fathers’ threats. 

She did not want his father to cut off her freedom of movement and association. 

She also did not want to provoke her own father to go ahead with his threat.
