Chapter 117
Diana’s POV
I continued.
“Look. I know you’re not a bad person. Even in the cruelty of your plans, you meant well. But it’s not just about the outcome, Charles. In the process, you lost the people you were trying to protect because you separated yourself. You were not alone, and yet you chose to carry everything. We were never even given a chance to help or decide on our fate. You looked down on us.”
“That’s not true.”
“You saw us as people who needed protecting. Maybe we did. But that’s only because we were kept in the dark. We were supposed to be partners. Did you even think that it could’ve been better if you told me everything?”
He bit his lip, “Ever since I thought I lost you? Always.”
I couldn’t bear another awkward silence on his supposedly sweet remark, so I closed the laptop and stood up.
“In any case, finding evidence about the plane is our best bet. I’ll call Susan and see if she’s got something.”
