Chapter 29
Diana’s POV
Two years ago
“Here.” Charles removed the lid of a small, carton box.
Resting inside on a miniature silk pillow was a tiny, gold ring with vine-like carvings.
“We’re married now, so I think this is appropriate to have.”
“Oh, Charles.”
My heart leaped out of my chest at his gesture. I glanced at his finger and he was already wearing his pair. I almost cried as he gently took out the ring, and held my finger to slide it in.
“And we didn’t have any formal ceremony so… I hope this will suffice.” He smiled, squeezing my hand lightly before letting it go.
I looked at the ring on my hand and felt completeness. The man I love gave me a ring to symbolize that we are one. What could make me happier?
“Thank you, Charles. This is beautiful.” I teared up and his expression softened as he wiped the tear off my face.
He took my hand and lightly planted a kiss on the back.
