My heart nearly stopped the moment I answered the call.

It was his voice—weak, slurred, and distant.

“I need you.”

Then… nothing.

No explanation. No location.

Just accompanied by silence.

“Andre?” I called, my voice trembling. “Andre, are you okay? What happened? Andre?!”

But the line was already dead.

My fingers went cold around the phone. My chest tightened so fast it felt like I couldn’t breathe. Something was wrong. Very wrong.

I threw on my jacket and bolted out of the house, feet pounding the road until I found a taxi. I barely gave the driver an address before yelling, “Drive!”
