Book 2: Chapter 12
Amira POV
We stepped into the elevator and he clicked the button for the executive floor. The door closed, trapping us in the small space.
His cologne wrapped around me.
I turned to steal a glance at him and caught him looking at me. Heat pooled in my belly.
“Thank you,” I whispered. “For defending me back there.”
He didn't say a word, but stared at the door until they parted into the executive floor. Then he stepped out.
A lump formed in my throat.
I swallowed hard and followed him into his office. The glass door closed after us, enclosing us in the room.
He removed his suit jacket—exposing a crisp, white shirt. Then he settled down in his office chair.
