“But you are engaged……” Felicia tried to speak up, her voice trembling now, and her fully baked face etched with worry and confusion, as she struggled to comprehend what was going on.

“Which both parents forced when we were younger. We didn't say we wanted it. Or, maybe it is just me?” Liam questioned, his face, stoic and his expression impassive.

“What are you talking about, Liam?! We talked about this, and it was settled. Why do you keep going back and forth,” his father, Austin, whose face could barely contain his anger, demanded as his voice wavered.

“Darling, we believe that this union would be beneficial for both families. You and Evelyn have known each other for years, and we think you both would make a wonderful couple,” Felicia tried to say again as she struggled to keep a natural facial expression and smile, hoping that whatever she had to say would placate Liam.
