Chapter 87

SCARLETT

We spent most of the day together. Watching movies and dissecting trending topics on the internet. He showed me a few of the pictures he had taken before and after we met and I also showed him mine. It felt really good to be with him, spending time and talking about everything and nothing. 

This strengthened a bond we were going to sever someday. It was going to hurt terribly, but what option did I have? I wanted to enjoy the moment and that was what we did. 

It felt like we both knew what was waiting for me tonight. We tried as much as possible to avoid the topic of my engagement party. In fact, it didn't cross my mind till my phone rang on the counter of the bar.

Finn stood to his feet. "I'll go get it."

I didn't need to be told. It was my mother calling. Maybe it was my father who reminded me not to do anything stupid. Or Kelvin's mother to admonish me. I rarely spoke with his father and Kevin knew it was best not to call me.
