Chapter 5. The Safehouse
Nathan paced the small room, his mind racing with thoughts of Jacob and his men. He couldn't shake the feeling of being constantly watched, even in the safety of the new safehouse Miranda had arranged. The room was sparse, with only a bed, a small table, and a couple of chairs, but it was enough for him and Emily to lay low while Miranda and her team kept watch.Emily sat on the bed, her eyes fixed on her phone. Nathan knew she was worried about missing school and her friends, but he couldn't risk her safety by letting her go back to her old life just yet. He sat down next to her, putting a reassuring hand on her shoulder."How are you doing, Em?" he asked."I'm okay," she replied, not looking up from her phone. "Just bored."Nathan chuckled.
