Zavian froze in his tracks, his head whipping around to pin her with a look of outraged disbelief. “Are you implying I’m too bloody old and feeble to handle a simple task like this?”
Emmeline was taken aback. “No, no - absolutely not!” she rushed to assure him. “I didn’t mean anything like that at all!”
Zavian’s nostrils flared, his eyes narrowing to mere slits as he studied her for several tense moments. Seemingly satisfied that she was being truthful, he exhaled a low grunt before continuing on his way - depositing the snow mold that barely weighed a feather atop the base.
“I finished the head!” Emmeline called out a while later, waving the neatly compacted orb overhead as she clambered to her feet.
Zavian turned toward her with a cocked brow, gesturing toward the unfinished snowman with an impatient flick of his wrist. “Well, what are you waiting for, then? Put the damn thing in place.”
