Chapter 292
Emmeline froze and her sobs caught in her throat.
“Mr. Blackthorn,” she whispered.
Her legs wobbled as she stumbled to her feet. “I have to tell him.”
Emmeline grabbed her phone from the table and her fingers fumbled over the screen to dial his number.
The call barely rang once before his deep, hoarse voice came through.
“I’m pulling into your driveway, Emmeline,” Zavian’s tone was sharp and heavy with an obviously restrained anger.
Relief washed over Emmeline but it was fleeting.
She bolted out of the kitchen to the front door. Her trembling hands struggled to unlock it and burst out onto the sidewalk with her breath coming in panicked gasps.
“Mr. Blackthorn! Please, help me!” Emmeline’s voice broke.
Zavian was already out of his car by the time she reached him, his long strides closing the distance between them.
