Emmeline’s eyes widened in shock. She hadn’t known the conversation had been recorded. Only three people had been in that hospital room: herself, Richard, and Zavian.

It dawned on her who had captured the damning evidence.

“It’s...” she began, but Brody cut her off, addressing the detective instead. “This recording is from a conversation that took place in Mr. Maine’s hospital room. It clearly demonstrates who was threatening whom.”

He gave Emmeline a serious glance.

Emmeline blinked, trying to decipher his expression.

“My client recorded it,” Brody added smoothly.

Emmeline was rendered speechless. However, she quickly nodded and played along. “I... I wanted evidence,” she said nervously. “I knew he’d try to twist the truth.”
