Chapter 4

She kept staring at the phone with so much attention. She was glad she got a replacement anyways since Bruce had refused to get one for her.

With love, she held it to her chest, hoping Bryan had gotten it for her.

She smiled contentedly after configuring the cloud on her phone and getting all of her files back.

As expected, Bryan's contact was the first one to appear when she flipped through her phone's call logs.

Just as she was about to tap the icon, her phone flashed a contact calling. When she realized it was Bryan, a small smile appeared on her lips.

" He's really the one! I knew it! " Her heart screamed in excitement.

She answered the phone right away, and the sound of Bryan's quiet voice filling her ears gave her butterflies just by itself.

She whispered, "Baby." " I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier " Bryan apologized first and she smiled.

" It's fine. I love you " She mumbled. " I love you too " Bryan replied. " The phone... You got it for me right? " Lyra asked immediately.

Her smile grew when Bryan said, "Yeah, it is me." " I knew it.. I knew it couldn't be him.. it's you " Lyra chanted happily and she could hear Bryan's chuckle.

" I really wish I could see how cute you look right now " He said sweetly and she blushed heavily. " Bruce.. he's not going to ask you where you got the phone from right? " Bryan asked, Lyra scoffed lightly.

" Not like he cares anyways " She replied and Bryan let out a sad sigh. " Bryan... What's wrong? " Lyra asked worriedly.

" Why can't you just divorce him? Why? " He asked and Lyra felt a lump in her throat as she tried so hard to swallow it. " Um... Bryan.. "

" You don't trust me? " He asked sadly. " Bryan.. it's not that. I just.. I need more time and I would do it.. I promise " She assured but Bryan wasn't satisfied.

"You know you would not be able to file for divorce anymore if he unexpectedly shows up home intoxicated one night, manipulates you, and gets you pregnant in the process?" Despite Bryan's words, Lyra shook her head.

" It wouldn't happen.. I promise... please hang on " In the hopes that Bryan would stop talking about it, she begged.

" Alright then " Bryan muttered but Lyra could notice from the way he sounded, he wasn't contented with Lyra's answer but she didn't bother to say a thing about it.

" So, you still at work? " Lyra asked, trying to clear the atmosphere. Bryan was honest when he said, "Yeah, I was working on some files before I decided to call."

" Oh, you should go back to doing that.. I don't wanna be a burden.. " Lyra said.

" Really? Come on.. why would you think you're a burden to me. You're not, okay? " Bryan muttered and she nodded tho he couldn't see her.

" Okay. I'm sorry " She replied. " Bye then " She said further. " Bye love " He replied and with that, the call ended.

Lyra held the phone to her chest lovingly as her lips widened into a big smile and her heartbeats increased.

"Oh God... I think I am falling deeply for him," she murmured dreamily, jiggling her legs in the air.

Night At The Ford's Mansion

Bruce walked into the room without obstruction since it was opened widely. He was a bit suprised not to see Lyra in. " Lyra! " He called confusedly.

Not that he cared, but it was surprising that Lyra was not in the room; whenever he returned from work, he always met Lyra in their room, which made him wonder what was wrong.

" Where's she? " He thought but brushed the thought away as he proceeded to taking his clothes off.

His shirt had come off, leaving him shirtless, and he was about to take off his pants when Lyra walked in, her face glued to her phone and smiles on her lips. He was perplexed as to why she was so lost smiling that she did not notice his presence.

Lyra was taken aback when she raised her head to meet Bruce's gaze. She almost fell as a result, but she kept her stance and unconsciously hid her phone, despite the fact that she knew Bruce had seen it before.

Bruce became more suspicious when Lyra hid her phone and creased his brows.

"You have a new phone?" He asked Lyra, surprising her. Not only was she surprised that he asked how she got the phone, but also that he spoke to her.

" Um.. I.. I bought it " She couldn't think of anything else. Bruce only nodded and then looked away as he proceeded to taking off his pants.

She should not mind if he stripped naked in front of her because they were married, but it felt odd that she had to leave the room to give him enough privacy.

Bruce did not care and simply went to the bathroom to take a bath. Lyra sighed with relief as she made her way to the guest room. She would stay there till she thinks Bruce would be done.

Her phone beeped and she hurried to check it. As thought, it was Bryan.

What's wrong? Why ain't you replying? Was the message.

She only read the message and dropped her phone on the bed. She was still startled about the earlier incident. She was glad he didn't bother to find out if she had told him the truth, if he had tried to.. he might have seen her chats with Bryan.

Why was she worried if he sees it anyways? But that means cheating right?

But should she care? He does it too anyways. She was really baffled as she suddenly lost interest in chatting with Bryan.

She switched off her phone after typing a Good night to Bryan and she laid on the bed, her head clouded with thoughts.

She closed her eyes blankly, finding it difficult to sleep. But after some minutes, she slept off in the guest room.
