“Umm…” I started clearing my throat. “Thank you so much for everything, Alex,” I said with a smile as I leaned forward on the table and touched the tip of his nose with my finger in a cute manner.

For a short second, I could swear I saw Alex blushing a little bit before his expression returned to normal.

He pursed his lips slightly and let out a nervous chuckle before speaking up. “It’s… it’s nothing, Nina,” he said, flashing me a soft smile. “I really had a whole lot of plans for your birthday, though.”

“Really?” I asked, my eyes widening. “So what happened to all of them?”

Alex lowered his head in embarrassment as he played with his pasta. “When you canceled on me and went out with Leo, I didn’t go ahead with them anymore,” he pouted.
