Chapter 177. A Charade

Sarah covered her mouth in surprise as she saw the file. It contained Tech-O's collaboration with several senators; they made a software product that could hack the prosecutor's and police's computers and could be used to delete evidence of crimes. If people knew it, they would be done already. Did it have something to do with Leah’s father's death? So, it was not only about the cottage fire.

When she was about to scroll down the file she heard the sound of footsteps getting closer to her room. She immediately closed her laptop and tucked it back into the drawer. She laid her back down and closed her eyes tightly, pretending to be sleeping. Before long, the door opened, and Adrian came in. He walked closer and stopped beside her bed; she could sense it when he tightened her blanket and bent down to kiss her forehead gently.

She wanted to open her eyes to ask about Kate but her mind was too busy to think about the file that she just saw earlier.
