Chapter 79. Four Years Ago: pt. 3
1 Week later.
Elene stared at her son who was sitting on the edge of the couch, his thin shoulders hunched forward as he gazed out of the window. The curtains fluttered slightly from the night breeze, but Lucien’s eyes didn’t move. They remained fixed on something that wasn’t there.
It had been a week of this. A week of silence. A week of her son slipping further and further away from her, as if some invisible wall had been built around him.
“Lucy,” she whispered, her voice shaking.
She didn’t know what to say anymore. What words could she use to break through to him? The boy now seemed more like a hollow shell than her child.
Elene walked forward and knelt beside him, her trembling hands brushing against the fabric of his sleeve. He didn’t flinch neither did he look at her. His eyes remained pinned to the glass.
