Ever since that day, Gerard had become much nicer to Lucien—so much that even Elene was entirely surprised.
What changed my husband overnight? Elene asked herself deep down, again and again, but she never got a reasonable answer.
For the past week, Gerard had been more caring, more supportive toward Lucien than he had ever been before.
“Here, take this,” Gerard said warmly as he placed the chicken lap on Lucien’s plate.
“Thanks, Dad,” Lucien mumbled shyly.
Gerard turned with a smile to Cassien and did the same, handing him another piece.
Elene, who had been observing all evening, finally looked down at her food, her thoughts clouded.
Dinner went on quietly. Then Gerard cleared his throat and proposed, “I’ll be taking you both out tomorrow.”
“Really?” Cassien’s face lit up with a huge smile.
Elene frowned slightly. “Why do you suddenly want to take my kids out?” she asked suspiciously.
