Chapter 9. Traumatized...
The room was quiet, but Roman’s thoughts were loud. Lucien lay on the bed, still pale, his lips dry, his hands wrapped in clean bandages. He was asleep now, his chest rising and falling slowly, almost too slowly. Roman’s eyes didn’t leave his face. There was something fragile about the boy—something broken but soft.
His skin was smooth and fair, but not in a spoiled way. More like someone who had spent most of his life hidden away. His lashes were long, too long for a boy. His mouth was small, and even though he was unconscious, he looked like he was frowning in pain.
Roman’s jaw tightened. He leaned back slightly against the wall, and his mind drifted.
The conversation he had with Zayn earlier flashed in his thoughts.
“What?” Roman had said in disbelief. He had just heard the accusation Zayn made.
“He hurt Selene? That boy?” Roman shook his head. “How sure are you, Zayn? Did you even ask him?”
