Rose’s POV

Rose’s lips parted as she moved to ask Lucille the most pressing question in her mind,

But before she could speak, the old matron had already raised her hand, her gaze sharp and decisive.

“Not yet, child,” Lucille said, leaving no room for discussion or protest. “Sit. Then we talk.”

Rose swallowed, nodded and quickly sat down on a stool close to her bed, “I’ll --”

“I’ll ask first.” Once again, Lucille cut her off, “Tell me child, what did you talk about with the little wolf this morning?”

“H----how did you know?” Rose stammered,

“I could see her weave from the other side of the world, child,” Lucille scoffed, “There’s nothing either of you can do that would be outside my attention.”

Rose blinked, taken aback.

Lucille’s expression didn’t change, she was sure she had got her point across. So she waited for Rose to speak, her gaze certain and focused,

Rose wet her lips, her gaze wandering across the entire co
