The Shadow’s POV

The woman who once bore the name of Eleanor Stormwind groaned under her breath, her lips pursed as she tugged at the reins of her horse, stopping him in place.

The sound of her horse stopping was lost in the sound of thundering hoofs on the snow, but her irritation and the flash of her aura, told her teammates exactly what she needed them to do.

In front of her, two novice shadows kicked their horses with restless energy, their laughter and smiles cutting through the air with the freedom of a child.

Her teammates were nothing like shadows should be ---- silent, disciplined, and above all, unseen.

When the matrons had informed her that she was going to have to take two more weavers with her in order to bring Aria back to the academy, she had expected to be assigned to an experienced team of weavers, a team she knew would be able to have her back if the retrieval inevitably turns into a fight.
