Chapter 23. Putting Things in Perspective

“Mistress, it’s dinner time and the table is set,” a maid said politely to Zora, who frowned a little. She had just come out of the shower, wearing loose, silky pants pajamas. They were neither transparent nor tight.

Due to the summer heat, she left her hair loose, opting not to use the dryer. Even in a loveless marriage, she was addressed as madam and mistress was inappropriate in a comatose marriage. Not hesitating, and as a woman who once managed a home, she corrected the maid.

“Call me Madam. I’m not a mistress but Sebastian’s wife.”

The maid was reluctant, as the nanny had instructed them in the kitchen not to address the woman as Madam, and also specified that Sebastian would send Michelle out of the house as soon as he woke up.

She, who once wanted Sebastian dead, now wanted him to live just so he could kick Michelle out of the mansion. Since she was married to Sebastian by Mr. Newman, she couldn’t be easily gotten rid of or manipulated.
