Chapter 29. Frozen on the Spot
"What do you mean by she’s bringing that good-for-nothing home?" Mrs. Avery asks incredulously.
"Sis Juli told me that just now," Brianna replies to her mother, frowning her face. "She’s with him as we speak."
Mrs. Avery clenches her fist. Her very own daughter left her on the sick bed to go see that poverty-stricken thing?
"Lucien Wood, you useless thing!" She curses through gritted teeth.
Brianna opens her mouth to say something but before she can, the door abruptly opens.
She and Mrs. Avery turn to look at the young lady walking in. Talk of the devil. It’s Juliet.
"Mum, you have finally fully regained consciousness," Juliet lets out a breath of relief as her gaze drops to Mrs. Avery.
Mrs. Avery humps and looks away, her brows narrowing.
But Juliet, not understanding why she would do that, shrugs off, comes over, and kisses her on the forehead. "How are you feeling now, mum?"
