Chapter 71
Then she removed the dagger again, pushed the tip of the dagger once more into the vial, ever so slowly. The healer felt a burning sensation in the crook of her arm when a drop of the green liquid fell from the vial, and then a cool swelling as the greenish fluid flowed into her. She narrowed her eyes and opened her mouth, her whole body focused on the task, afraid to stop and disobey the head chief. The silence in the lab was so unconditional that the healer could hear her breath whistling between her parted lips.
It took her almost a minute to complete the process. Then again plunged the dagger to the young witch's chest as she murmured her goodbye and welcome to the underworld, then she removed the sword from her chest and set the empty vial on the stone table.
She went to the door and called for her assistant who waited outside her chamber and told him to inform the head chief. The deed was done. They can breathe now.
