Chapter 20
He bowed his head in front of her and placed the crate next to him. The sight of the charred remains made him reflect on what a terrible mercy it had been for this to be the end of all mankind. She'd lost everything that distinguished her from the crowd: her glitz and glamour, her loving and kind temperament, her imaginativeness and talent, and she'd been reduced to the same skeletons as every other worthless and cruel delinquent. In the end, they were all the same: an assemblage of deceased bones.
He used his gentle lifting technique to carefully place her forearm bones in the crate. Recollections of that tragic day were accelerated as he pressed his fingers against the bones of his beloved. He burst into tears and let out a shivering scream.
