Chapter 128
The human expression became thoughtful as he noticeably comprehended the enormous significance of what could have happened. The small human could have easily died had he been less fortunate. If he hadn’t found her, there was a good chance she would never have survived. To Naghas, it appeared as if the humane hand of fate had overseen matters and placed the woman in his path. The fates had plainly saved the human at their kindness, but what were his plans for this human? Had the fates been playing with him again?
The human began to lean against his thigh as she settled into the crook of his left arm. She’d eaten the cooked meat he gave her and yawned before snuggling more comfortably against him. He watched in fascination as the firelight played off the ruddy strands of her hair, making them shiny. Even her face seemed radiant in the glow. It was weird and yet oddly endearing, like she was not a human but something unnatural in his company for a brief time.
