Chapter 16. Pain and Jealousy

MAIA's POV

Hours passed and Lucius never came back. As I laid in my bed, a lonely tear fell on my pillow. That single tear opened the tear ducts that I had been trying to keep shut. No matter how hard I tried to pretend that I was okay, my eyes always betrayed me.

I placed my hand over my now empty stomach and silently prayed to the Moon Goddess.

"Am I such a bad person? Is there something wrong that I did to deserve all this? Were my parents not enough or was I just supposed to be alone? No matter how hard I try, I always get left behind. Am I that unimportant? Because that is how I surely feel." I cried.

'Maia, you should not think like that. The Moon Goddess wouldn't abandon you. I WILL NEVER ABANDON YOU. YOU are important. This is just an obstacle in life. What happened does not define who you are as a person, Maia. Always remember that.' Avi said.

Just as any other night, I cried myself to sleep.
