Adolphus greeted his father with a warm nod and settled into the armchair across from him.

“How did you sleep?” Alpha King Xavier asked, studying his son with approval. “I can see the change in you since you found Iris. We were so set against her at first, but your heart knew better. Sometimes we have to listen to it.”

Adolphus smiled softly. “I slept well better than I have in years. Since Iris came into my life, I’ve finally found a peace I didn’t even know was possible.”

Xavier leaned back, a knowing glint in his eye. “Why don’t you two take a few days away? You’ve been buried in work for too long. You need time that’s just for the two of you. Iris deserves all of your attention for once. That’s what you want, isn’t it?”
