Chapter 26. Feud

DANTE’S POV

I’ve been out of New York City for exactly seven days now, and I’ve been messaging and calling Adeline from time to time to assure her that I’ll make it to her dinner party tonight.

I would have come back immediately after I got what I wanted from that middle man but I needed to give my body some rest before flying back. The bullet wound on my shoulder still aches, but I’m just going to have to ignore the pain tonight for Adeline. I had it stitched up, so I’m pretty certain the wound is not going to open up again.

I just landed back in the city and I’m currently in my car, speeding as I try to make it in time to her place. I’ve missed her so much that even though it’s only been a week since I last saw her, I feel like it’s been centuries. Like I’m about to meet her for the first time all over again, and I’m honestly excited. I’m already thirty minutes late, and I’m certain she thinks I’m going to let her down again, but I’m making it to that dinn
