Evan was short of ideas on how he was going to handle the whole thing. First, he needs to see Laura, and second, he needs to get Reed so Emerald can feed on him, but who was he attending to first? He paced around the house, thinking of what to do.

“don’t tell me you’re thinking about this?” Adam asked, coming to him. “Emerald has less than twenty-four hours to live. I don’t know what else you’re thinking about.”

“But Laura...” Evan paused. “Fine, let’s go in search of Reed,” he said after much consideration.

“You’re going to be fine, okay?” Adam told Emerald, pecking her forehead. “You girls stay with her and let us know if anything comes up,” he turned to face Sophia and Chloe.
