Chapter 9

Reed quickly ran as fast as he could to a place where he could transform. His eyes turned green, his fingers grew longer till they became claws, and his teeth started growing into fangs. He needed to stay hidden before any vampire caught him or human.

Emerald was walking along the path towards where Reed was. She could notice someone’s presence, a presence she had never felt before. Before she could turn to see who it was, Reed quickly launched at her, but Emerald was quick enough to dodge. She looked at him, and she never believed she would see another vampire apart from the Goodwine. Reed looked at her, wondering why she wasn’t freaking out or screaming as every human would. He perceived the air around him.

“You’re a vampire,” Reed said, moving closer to her. Emerald stood her ground and was ready to attack any minute she sensed danger. “Who are you?” Reed asked.

“Why should I answer that?” Emerald
