Chapter 128. Keep Searching
James glanced at the king's general and then switched his attention to the king. What the king sought of him sounded like slavery to him. 'How can I put my life on the line for the kingdom I barely know?' he thought to himself and then the hope of seeing his daughter popped into his mind. He smiled and said to the king, "For the sake of my daughter, I will do what you have asked."
"Do you swear this?" the king asked as he coughs again.
"I swear!" James replied.
The king's general at this time pulled out a parchment strapped around his sword belt. He approaches James and added him the parchment. "You need to sign this," said the king's general.
"What's that?" James asked as he took the parchment off the general's hand.
"It's everything the king just said now. Swearing isn't enough. If you agree to what the king has said, then sign." The general handed James a feather dipped in black ink.
